What is UCR?
UCR (Unified Carrier Registration) is a federally mandated program required for motor carriers and businesses that are engaged in interstate commerce (crossing states lines). Paying UCR gov fee is crucial for your commercial transportation business, as failure to register can result in operation halt or potential removal from the road.
UCR Renewal – Participating States
Currently there are 41 U.S. states as part of the UCR registration. If your business operates from a non-participating state, you still need to register for UCR if you cross over state lines into a participating state. In this cases, you would select a participating base state as your nearest to your operations. NONE Participating states are: Arizona, District of Columbia, Florida, Hawaii, Maryland, New Jersey, Nevada, Oregon, Vermont, Wyoming. If you are NOT located within these states or plan on operating outside of these states, UCR is mandatory.
2025 UCR Registration Fees
Based on your fleet size, Register for the Unified Carrier Registration Plan to contribute to funding highway safety. UCR Annual fees are due by December 31st. The fees collected are for supporting state enforcements, road maintenances, and driving safety. All companies must pay the UCR Fee before their first interstate trip to avoid fines and impoundment.
